In a very recent interview with STYLEBOOK, Stefanie Giesinger lets out a lot on her deadly illness- “Kartagener syndrome”. Speaking out publicly about her illness for the first time in quite a while, the youngster sounds happy and so full of hope!
Only at 21, the 2014 winner of “Germany’s Next Top Model” has been diagnosed with the aforementioned critical disorder, yet that seems not to be taking a toll on her.
The Kartagener syndrome a rare genetic disease that causes problems with one’s airways and has no known cure, for now. However, its treatment is basically managing its symptoms; frequent ear infections, chronic nasal congestion, and lowering the risks of further complications.
In the interview with STYLEBOOK, Stefanie talks about how many times she has had to go for medical check ups within the past year- “I’ve learned to live with it, and that’s kind of normal for me. Also, that I am always in the hospital.I was in the hospital six times last year and four times this year, but for me that’s just part of my life.” This throws more light on how complex this illness is, but this has definitely not stopped the youngster from living her life to the fullest.
Stefanie further used the interview to express how she is still happy everyday regardless.
She is appreciative about life despite what it has thrown at her. She says, “I am blessed that I am a positive person. I am even almost happy that I have my illness because it makes me appreciate my life very much and every moment that I have no pain.”
Stef then explained how busy her life as model can get – “The hardest part of modeling is actually that I travel so much and so rarely see my family, friends and my friend. Being on the road is fun, I get to know so many people, but I miss all my loved ones.”
As bubbly and free as she is, she wastes no time to share a tip on how she keeps her face looking as young and as vibrant as ever- ” I wash my face with warm, sometimes with cold water, so that it swells.”
Just as any ambitious, young female, Stefanie has high hopes for 2018 ! She shares, “In 2018, I definitely want to do more abroad. I would also like to design something myself- My calendar is already full, wow! I have not even a week at a time free”.
I think it’s great that I can value everything even more, every single second of my life.
