With barely 24 hours to Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s ‘Royal Wedding’, here’s everything you need to know.
In about 24 hours, actress and humanitarian, Meghan Markle, will walk down the aisle and become a Princess. While this is a BIG deal, the actual marriage ceremony is even a bigger one. Here is how everything will unfold tomorrow, May 19.
The Royal Wedding 2018 is set to take place at the St George’s chapel inside Windsor Castle. The service will be led by Reverend David Conner and officiated by Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. Then the most anticipated reception would be held at St George’s Hall, followed by a private evening shindig at Frogmore House.
Furthermore, Meghan and Harry have invited over 2000 guests to this memorable event. This includes 1200 members of the public, 200 members of charities the couple work with and several others. The capacity of the hall is, however, for 800 people only. So most of the guests would have to watch and listen from outside. The number would further be downsized to 600 for lunch and then 200 for a private evening event.
Notable of the invited guests are tennis giant, Serena Williams, musicians– Ed Sheeran, Chris Martin, Elton John, The Spice Girls, actress Priyanka Chopra and the entire ‘Suits’ cast. Also, Prince Harry’s ex girlfriends, Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy, are to attend the wedding! While foreign political figures are not expected to attend, seeing several foreign royalties like the Queen of Spain at the wedding would be no surprise.
One thing, though, is that Meghan Markle has confirmed herself that her father, Thomas Markle Sr, would not be walking her down the aisle. This is largely due to health reasons as he reportedly had a heart surgery recently. “I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said.
Meghan’s half siblings, Thomas Markle Junior and Samantha Markle will also not attend and we all know why. Yet her mother, Doria Ragland, would be in attendance.
The Bridal party and The Dress are also set
Prince William will be best man, while Meghan Markle will NOT have a maid of honour. The bridesmaids and pageboys, however, will be “all children”- Kensington Palace has confirmed. The group of ten will include future king, Prince George, and his sister Princess Charlotte.
Princess Diana’s siblings will be in attendance and Meghan’s mother, Doria, will drive to the chapel with her.
Meghan’s dress is reported to be a $180,000 beaded creation by London-based Australian designers, Ralph & Russo. A second (and possibly third) outfit is as well expected.
Prince Harry might wear his military uniform, just as Prince William did. But we do hope for a surprise!
Uniforms, morning coats or lounge suits are the dress code for men. Whereas, “day dresses” and hats are for the women.
The Food, the Cake, The Flowers and the Music for the Royal Wedding
“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring”
Yup yup and here is the best part- the food! Meghan is a self-declared foodie so we are sure the food would not fall short. In fact, the couple have been having secret tasting sessions since March with the royal kitchen’s head chef, Mark Flanagan. With spring as the inspiration, you can expect lamb and lots of vegetables from the Queen’s own garden.
The wedding cake is also something to look forward to. Not the usual fruitcake as “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring,” the Kensington Palace said. “It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.” Sounds delicious already!
The flowers will include seasonal branches of beech, birch and hornbeam, as well as white garden roses, peonies and foxgloves grown. They will be designed by self-taught florist Philippa Craddock.
And finally, the music! Reports state that the chapel will combine melodies from different choirs, an orchestra, trumpeters and 19-year-old cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who apparently was personally phoned by Meghan. There are some rumors too that legendary Elton John, or The Spice Girls and even Coldplay might perform. But for now, there has been no confirmation.
All in all, this wedding is estimated to cost a mind-blowing $58 Million! The event will be paid for by The Royal Family.
This will enter the list as one of the top 10 most expensive weddings of all time! Question is how do we regular folk get to be involved? Easy. Grab some popcorn and relax! This exclusive event will be aired live on CBS, ABC, BBC America, TLC, HBO, Hallmark, and E! At 1 p.m, it will air in Berlin so be ready!
