The Zoom Challenge– Fun but actually very dangerous too!

Again and again, the Internet suddenly brings up challenges that call for participation and are harmless. However, the latest trend–#ZoomChallenge, poses more harm than fun. Just like the Tide Pode Challenge, which consists of biting into a colorful detergent capsule or even ingested, experts have expressed concerns.

Now don’t get us wrong, the Zoom Challenge is FUN! The challenge is to get Lil Yachty’s song ‘Mickey’ while sitting, with your legs stretched on the floor, and pretend to drive a car. Then, let someone unexpectedly and instantly pull you out of sight as soon as you hear the word ‘Zoom’!
But it’s no longer fun and games when safety is at stake. Mostly, children and adolescents are the ones who find the challenge fun. However, parents are now worried about the latest developments.

Be careful about the Zoom challenge

The pull sometimes lead to heavy falls and further serious head injuries. In some videos, you can even hear how hard the head bangs on the floor. “Unfortunately, most people embrace such challenges without being aware of the danger they expose themselves to,” explains Jennifer Widler on the Women’s Health website.
“Smaller bodies, and even unprepared larger ones can be grabbed and moved too quickly, increasing the risk of neck injuries, whiplash, and concussion…”, she added.

“There is a risk of hurting your neck, back and head”

The challenge has gone so viral that even animals have already been filmed – and for them the risk of injury is even higher. Animals have no idea of what’s going on and can’t help themselves. Not only can they hurt themselves on the neck, back and paws, they also get stressed out.

So the point is, next time you want to try the ZOOM challenge, DONT!
