With over 1.2M Instagram followers, Artem Shestakov is surely a voice to listen to. Soon to turn 26, the influencer took his very first trip outside Ukraine, only in 2013!

He traveled to Brazil with plans of spending just a month. Long story short, this trip turned into three (3) years, and it looks like his best decision ever.

“For the first year it was mainly for fun, but then I began to take it more seriously. These days it’s my sole source of income — and I earn six figures a year”,  he revealed on Thrive Global.

After those years in Brazil, Shestakov gradually built his brand to become one of the most popular travel bloggers there.

Travelling instantly changed from a hobby to his way of life. In fact, in 2018 alone, Artem visited over seven countries, including Morocco and Belarus.

“There’s nothing wrong with blogging as a hobby. In fact, that’s as far as most people get. I’ll tell you right now that becoming a professional travel blogger is very difficult. More difficult than most people think.”

Now that we know how relevant Artem is in the field, let’s find out his best thirteen tips on becoming a top influencer in travel:

1. “Choose your niche. This is the most important one!” 

Many influencers are just going with the wave, but Artem advises that to be successful, you need to pick one interest, develop an audience there and stick to it.

2. “LEARN HOW TO WRITE A COMPELLING CAPTION!”

Captions are everything to Instagram Influencers so getting it right is key. Even for an IG story, it’s important to lure your audience in with a great caption.

3. “Learn how to edit pictures”

Yup, to make in this sea of unending influencers, you need to have beautiful pictures. Arrest the view of your audience and flourish!

4. “Follow, tag and engage with your Instamates”

Always a good idea to associate with people within your field. Usually it comes with advantages you wouldn’t see just yet.

5. “USE INSTAGRAM STORIES TO BETTER ENGAGE FOLLOWERS”

Recent statistics reveal that when it comes to stories, Instagram is performing the best. “80% of all daily active Instagram users are watching Stories just as often as they’re checking their feed”, in a report by Adspresso.com.

6. “Quality control is important”

It’s not rocket science to know that putting in quality feed brings back quality returns!

7. “Geo-tag your discoveries and places”

Geo-tagging can pull more followers to your account, because you’d now be the go-to person for trip motivation 😉

8. “CHOOSE HIGH-QUALITY CAMERA EQUIPMENT!”
