Cardi B quits Instagram? Grammy’s newest winner deactivates!

Cardi B is one who needs no introduction. The award winning rapper is famous for all reasons– good and bad. However, this is one of the most shocking ones. Right after winning her first Grammy award ever, Cardi has deactivated her Instagram. Reason? Still a guess game!

Oops! Cardi B just did a ‘post and delete’. Except this time she deleted her actual account.

After winning best rap album for “Invasion of Privacy”, things got pretty heated on the internet. Of course, she got the shine for being the first solo female rapper to ever bag a ‘rap album of the year’ Grammy award– which is a very very big deal.

However, there has been some backlash.

First of all, it’s rare to mention Cardi B without making some sort of reference to her biggest rival, Nicki Minaj. So naturally, when the Bodak Yellow hitmaker received this award over Nicki, music fans couldn’t catch a break with the ‘comparisons’.

While some people thought Cardi deserved this award, others believed otherwise. It didn’t take long before the debate started. This led to some shoulders getting rubbed, and Nicki fans were livid!

Yet, one tweet by American TV Network, the Black Entertainment TV (BET), triggered the ‘Queen’ herself! In a since deleted tweet, BET’s captioned above a link to an article on Cardi’s win;

“Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront”.

Now this obviously did not sit well with Nicki or her fans– causing Nicki herself to speak out. With the support of Lil Wayne, she revealed that their entire Young Money team had decided to pull out of the upcoming BET Summer show.

This morning, though, BET issued out an apology to Nicki Minaj for the sour tweet. It read,

” BET loves Nicki Minaj…Unfortunately, the respect we have for Nicki was violated by this post that should never have been written. We deeply apologize for the hurt, disappointment and confusion…”

Okay but what has this got to do with Cardi deleting her Instagram?

So Cardi B, in the spirit of women empowerment, went on an Instagram rant– condemning trolls and ultimately the BET.

“It’s not my style for people to put other people down to uplift somebody else, that’s not my style and that’s not what I’m with and I don’t support that,” she began as a response to the BET.

After which she went on to speak on people discrediting her win. She said, “I remember last year when I didn’t win for ‘Bodak Yellow,’ everybody was like, ‘Cardi got snubbed, Cardi got snubbed.’ Now this year’s a f—ing problem?”

“My album went two-time platinum, my n—-. And every chart that there was, my album was always top 10. Number one album as well. I f—ing worked my ass off, locked myself in the studio for three months, my n—-, then went to sleep in my own bed, sometimes for four days straight, pregnant. Some songs couldn’t even get on the f—ing album because my nose was so f—ing stuffy from my pregnancy. N—-s couldn’t sleep, n—-s couldn’t do s—.”

Right after this rant however, she deactivated her Instagram.

Whether it was the trolls, the BET, Nicki Minaj or according to Billboard.com, “criticisms for getting back together with husband Offset after he was reportedly unfaithful”, no one truly knows why Cardi is off. Her Twitter account is active all the same.

We hope to hear some reasoning, or at least some news from her soon.
