Ice Cream Man says he’ll charge all influencers ‘double’!

Okay, somebody doesn’t like influencers and it shows. Joe Nicchi, owner of ice cream truck CVT Soft Serve, says he’s had it with influencers always wanting freebies. In light of that, the ice cream man has vowed to sell his products at ‘twice the price’ to them. “We have a solid product that speaks for itself,” he told People, indicating that influencer ‘exposure’ would do it no good.

Social media stars would have to pay twice the price if they want anything from CVT Soft Serve

The Los Angeles based ice cream truck wants no parts in influencer marketing.

CVT — which stands for the available flavors, chocolate, vanilla and twirl — has been operating for five-and-a-half years”, People wrote.
However, for 3 years, Joe has had nothing but requests from social media influencers — both online and in person. And they all want one thing; free ice cream in exchange for exposure!

“I’m not really 100 percent sure what they actually do, and their followers, likes, and comments can all be purchased, so I have trouble looking at them as being reputable.”

“I’m sure there are some legitimate ‘influencers’ out there, but we haven’t come across any at our trucks or through event requests,” he told the magazine.

So Joe made an announcement on Instagram, stating that prices are no longer the usual for influencers. Rather, he’s shooting them up times two!

“We will never give you a free ice cream in exchange for a post on your social media page“

On June 30, CVT Soft Serve’s Instagram post went viral. And the message was simple;

“We’ve decided to make this thing official with signage. We truly don’t care if you’re an Influencer, or how many followers you have,” they wrote.

“We will never give you a free ice cream in exchange for a post on your social media page. It’s literally a $4 item…well now it’s $8 for you. #InfluencersAreGross

“I’m truly embarrassed for these people,” the ice cream man further told People. He recalled a request from a week ago, where an ‘influencer’ wanted 300 FREE ice cream servings for an event. What?

Not only did he publicize his new decision on the internet, Nicchi also made sign posts– “Influencers Pay Double” — for all his trucks.

On their Instagram, previously, CVT Soft Serve had posted a photo of the kind of emails they receive.

But what people have failed to realize, is that the brand is doing great on its own.

The company’s success “comes from the taste of our ice cream,” Nicchi says.

“We have a solid product that speaks for itself,” he added. “I also think people appreciate our no-nonsense approach to the business both with our limited menu and our online posts.”

“I think if our ice cream is great, that the rest will hopefully fall into place via word of mouth and through reputable journalists.”

Some of CVT’s successes include being hired by Adam Levine for The Voice season 17, and catering for famous chef  Jacques Torres’ birthday.

They were also listed as one of Eater LA’s top 15 ice cream shops for this summer.
