Unpleasant: Influencer shares ‘unpleasant’ photo on Instagram, labels it as ‘female empowerment’

In fact, this has to be the ickiest photo to ever hit the gram! A controversial Swedish influencer, Maxinne Björk, got the internet into a frenzy when over the weekend, she posted this particular photo. In it, Maxinne is smeared with blood all over her face and breasts. And you’d never guess where the blood is from…her period!

Today after a very productive and super fun day, I just came home all emotional with lots on my minds that I just pushed a side cause I didn’t have space to deal with it in the moment. I sat down and did some deep breathing, and all of a sudden felt a strong urge to cover myself in my life-giving fluids as a woman. So without really thinking of why or anything else, I just did. Smudged it out all over my body and then rolled around naked on the grass in my garden all covered in my menstrual blood. Smelled the earth and started crying intensely. Both from happiness and sadness. After some crying I started laughing instead. I’m so happy to have my mum in my life, we both help each other to get through some rollercoasters. The family situation we are in right now is just very draining. But thats life. And exactly how it is suppose to be in this moment. Accept and love ❤

Now Maxinne, who lives in Bali, is not new to such ‘questionable’ posts. Her 44,000 followers are, sort of, used to it. Plus, she describes herself as a “naturist” and “yogi”, posting nude photos, and addressing topics such as masturbation, feminism and the power of the universe.

However, this recent picture has definitely gone overboard!

So much that Maxinne had to block out comments on the post. She begins her caption by saying:

“Today after a very productive and super fun day, I just came home all emotional with lots on my minds that I just pushed a side cause I didn’t have space to deal with it in the moment. I sat down and did some deep breathing, and all of a sudden felt a strong urge to cover myself in my life-giving fluids as a woman.”

Maxinne goes on to say that she gave in to her impulse and plastered herself in “life-giving fluids as a woman”–menstrual blood. Omg!

“So without really thinking of why or anything else, I just did. Smudged it out all over my body and then rolled around naked on the grass in my garden all covered in my menstrual blood. Smelled the earth and started crying intensely. Both from happiness and sadness.”

But what would motivate such an action?

Well Maxinne reveals that a current ‘draining’ family situation could be the cause. She says, “After some crying I started laughing instead. I’m so happy to have my mum in my life, we both help each other to get through some rollercoasters. The family situation we are in right now is just very draining. But thats life. And exactly how it is suppose to be in this moment. Accept and love ❤”.

Funny thing is the internet neither ‘accepted’ nor ‘loved’ this post

Even though Maxinne was quick enough to disable comments on her post, someway somehow, people shared their ‘disgust’. Some even believe that she has a ‘mental’ disorder.

“Covering yourself in your fluids, rolling around in grass, crying and then laughing like a maniac is not empowering or inspirational, it’s disgusting and worrying,” one person said in the post that followed. “That last photo is utterly disgusting wtf”, another added.

“In today’s society people want to be weird and different so bad they rub period blood on their faces…” “Everything described sounds a lot like a psychotic episode.”

“Being unique doesn’t make you useful”

Nonetheless, Maxinne had some people on her side

Some people believe that she did nothing wrong by showing her natural, raw side. Others even feel empowered by the post and encouraged her to keep ’em up.

“You‘re an incredible inspiring person 💖! If only a few more were like you, the world would be at peace and not the mess it is at the moment. Woman who stand for themselves were always blamed, called crazy, called insane, called dangerous. I don’t know, why the world is so rude but I do know, that you with your radical feminism, your messages to the world, your beautiful mind, are an inspiring, incredible strong person!”, a fan said in a lengthy comment.

“Please, don’t ever delete your last photograph. It’s so beautiful, and raw, and such a wonderful representation of a female in her natural form. So many, including myself, will find it empowering and inspirtational as women. I thank you for sharing it with us. 🙏”

“So interesting how people can’t accept that we all are different and have different views about life. Im not telling people to think like me, but with my actions I want to express to people to listen to their hearts, and do what feels right for them even though it doesn’t fit the norm.”
