Influencer, Leon Machère, being fined €25,000 for pulling two pranks!

Popular Youtuber, Leon Machère, is being sued by Hamburg police! Why? The comedic figure apparently created not one, but two ‘unacceptable pranks’ about the police. And he now has to pay for it! His initial sentence was a higher penalty, which the influencer appealed–bringing him to this fine.

Ooops! Looks like you can’t always get away with everything on the internet.

The Youtuber was not only asked to pay this hefty fine, but was ordered to not post any police-related jokes in the next six months! But why is he being charged at all?

A prank clearly gone wrong

Now Leon is not a newbie in this prank game. In fact, his Youtube channel is based on pranks. He feeds his 2.2M+ followers with nothing but jokes and several funny videos, filled with trickery. Truthfully, they usually are comedic gold.
However, this time, two of the jokes he played on the Hamburg police department, rubbed them in the wrong way!

In the first one, which he posted last year, he pranked the police using a ‘graffiti scare’. Leon craftily chose locations near policemen, and pretended to be spraying cans of graffiti spray on walls. The trick was that these cans were actually cooling sprays. The officers rushed to the scene, only to realize they were being fooled. Some asked him interesting questions like, “Are you cleaning this up or what?” Others walked away in anger. One of the officers even threatened to arrest the influencer, and later just cautions him to “leave it alone.”

The second one is even worse

According to the court, Leon pulled a second prank which infuriated the police even more. Machère drove through the streets of Hamburg, in a white car with a blue light and a siren. Using a megaphone, he asked passers-by to undress or follow other instructions. Some people believed it was a police operation, while Leon filmed everything for his Youtube.

Therefore, on August 1, 2018, the court fined Leon, whose real name is Rustem Ramaj,  to the tune of 250 euros a day, for 150 days – a total of 37,500 euros. But the Youtuber appealed this ruling, which brought it down to the current 25,000 euros.

The influencer however claims to be more focused on his music, as his usual prank videos no longer pay off.

How unfortunate for Leon. Or do you think his pranks were truly uncalled for? Leave thoughts below.
