What do you do and what you love most about it?

Em: “I’m Em, blogger and creator of The Lipstick Fever. TLF is a fashion / beauty blog that was born as a side hobby. Flash forward 3 years and I am now blogging and working with brands full-time as an influencer.”

What I love most about what I do is that I can do it anywhere.  I’m able to create content for brands that I love, no matter which city I’m in.  While living abroad (I moved from NYC to London 1 year ago) it provides so much flexibility and I can travel and work wherever.

What are some of your best fashion brands?

Em: My favorite brands at the moment are Reformation, The Kooples, and Opening Ceremony.  But I still LOVE a good high street brand like French Connection which has been a long time favorite.

What has been your worst dressed moment/ your favorite go-to outfit?

Em: “Worst dressed might be when I tried to dress up track pants – I ended up looking closer to a Patriot’s Football cheerleader as my dad liked to point out (haha!)”.

My favorite go-to outfit is sneakers, jeans, huge sweater or sweatshirt and a leather jacket to layer over.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Em: “Ryan Gosling, I’m sorry I know it’s so typical!!!”

Tell us briefly about the most exciting travel adventure you’ve had

Em:Most exciting would probably be Costa Rica where I went for one of my best college friend’s weddings. It was unlike anywhere else I’ve seen in the world – the landscape is truly unique while so lush and tropical at the same time. Made me want to take up surfing immediately.

What one thing do you hate most about social media?

Em: That it’s almost impossible to turn off.

Name one influencer you love most

Em:  I love The Skinny Confidential – her voice and POV is truly unique and she’s created this loyal community which is unlike no other.  She also focuses on the business side of blogging and gives valuable tips to anyone starting a brand / business through her fairly new podcast which I listen to weekly.

Any recent trips you would like to relive?

Em: Oh yeah!  I’m recently coming out of Fashion month where I got to go to Paris twice!  Each trip I fall more in love and see a slice of the city I’ve never seen.  Oh and the FOOD!  Nothing beats an espresso and almond croissant in Paree.

If you could change something about the world, what would you change?

Em: Social media can give off this facade of perfection which is not accurate.  We filter, edit, and share only the things that we so choose, and it’s not an entirely accurate depiction of our lives.  Along with that is the constant need to share.  My fear is that one day I could be bringing up a daughter in this kind of environment, and I’m just not sure how we’re supposed to ensure that they can handle this intense pressure.  I dream of simpler days and hope that can be achieved again.

What’s the nicest thing you have ever done for a follower?

Em: I think in a more general sense, I respond to every single DM from followers. I’ve had a lot of women reach out about making the move to Europe / living abroad. Without hesitation, I respond to every one of these women because I was in almost the exact same boat about a year ago. I just hope my tips are helpful!

How easy or difficult is it for influencers to work with brands?

Em: If you have an authentic voice, following, and quality content, then it should not be difficult.  Right now, influencer marketing is the key / most popular form of advertising in a digital sense.  There is no shortage of brands to work with, or opportunities to be had.  It’s all about conducting yourself in a professional manner, and finding brands that align with your goals, voice and aesthetic.

Also, always, always make sure to get everything in writing ahead of time in a contract and ensure both parties are on the same page!

What three things can you absolutely not live without?
Em: Dry shampoo, my hair colorist in NYC (LOL!), and pizza.
