28-year-old influencer, Margarita Tomovska, is definitely going away for a while! The influencer, known to all as “Mercedes Mum”, was in a hot police chase that eventually led to her arrest. She reportedly sped at a rate of over 230 kilometres per hour, and had her toddler daughter in the vehicle too! What??
The 10km chase is sending Margarita straight to jail
A Local Court in Wollongong, Australia, has sentenced Margarita Tomovska to 18 months in prison, and a nine-month non-parole period.
The Insta star, who had over 70,000 followers, reached speeds of 238 kilometers per hour during the incident in November last year. The chase lasted for nine minutes, until officers dramatically stopped her Mercedes AMG sports car at gunpoint– fearing a firearm was inside.
Only to find out that Margarita was not alone! Inside the vehicle was a man named ‘King’, along with her 4-year-old daughter, unrestrained in the back.
No remorse from the influencer — prosecution argued
Margarita seemed to care more for her outlook than the case in itself. According to Daily Mail UK, she appeared at court “dressed in diamond-encrusted sunglasses and designer clothing.”
“Tomovska wore another eye-popping $15,000 outfit to Wollongong Local Court on Thursday, with pieces from Versace, Balmain, Dior and Tom Ford,” the publication continued.
Prosecutor Amelia Wall referred court to an Instagram story posted on Tomovska’s account earlier on the day of the crime– which appeared to show her travelling in a car going 126kph in a 80kph zone near Heathcote.
The police then received a tip off, that she may be riding with an illegal firearm holder, King. After being followed for 10 minutes, things got heated. Mercedes sped away when the police car turned on its lights and sirens to pull the car over.
King was eventually arrested but no firearms were discovered.
Meanwhile, Tomovska told the police she had sped beyond limit for ‘nothing,’ just ‘stupidity.’
Sergeant Wall said Tomovska’s conduct had been “reprehensible” and showed “absolutely no remorse”.
And so much so, she had posted a ‘#NotGuilty’ and a photo of her pouting to the camera with the caption ‘resting bitch face on for tomorrow. Practice makes perfect’
In addition to jail time, Margarita Tomovska would not be allowed to drive for 2 years.
