Tell us a little about your love story. How did dating begin? When did you first meet and what did you first think of each other?

Roamaroo: We met eight years ago while we were both on vacation in Las Vegas. Cue “what happens in Vegas…” From the moment we met, there was an extreme attraction and undeniable chemistry. However, Scott was living in Chicago and Collette was living in Los Angeles. Despite being geographically undesirable, we began a long distance relationship that lasted for 1.5 years until we decided on Los Angeles as our home.

When and how did blogging/Instagramming as a couple come into the picture? What/Who inspired you?

Roamaroo: In June 2015, we decided to take a grown-up half-gap year to travel the world together. We started our blog and Instagram as a way to document our travels and have a sense of purpose on the road. When we first left, we did not set out to turn our passion into a job. When it was time to go home, we realized that we had changed and we didn’t want to return to our old corporate jobs so we decided to try to turn our passion project into a career.

Our biggest inspirations came from Tim Ferriss and Rolf Potts who had a podcast called “Vagabonding.” While we had always dreamt of long-term travel, this podcast was truly the impetus for us booking our flights and getting out into the world.

There are other things you could have blogged about together. Why travel influencing?

Roamaroo: We have been traveling together, writing about it, and videoing our travels far before “travel influencing” was a thing. Travel has always been our passion first and foremost – the business all came later. We are explorers at heart so travel blogging was a natural vehicle to share our stories.

You had me at merlot ? ••••• With its rich history, plethora of vineyards and craft breweries, and multitude of gourmet restaurants, Charlottesville VA has the recipe for romance. I mean…TJ would have wanted us to indulge, right? It’s crazy to think that these are the same wines that Mr. Thomas Jefferson fell in love with in Virginia. ? ••••• #ad #visitcville @charlottesvilleva #charlottesville #visitvirginia #visittheusa #mysouthernliving @pippinhillfarm • • • • #travelcouple #travelingcouple #travelsandchill #travelustcouples #globecouples #coupletravel #couplesofinstagram #creativetravelcouples #couplesgoals #winerylovers #vineyards #pippinhill #wine? #traveltheusa #discoveramerica #beautifulmatters #tlpicks #iamatraveler #beautifulmatters #beautifuldestinations #dametraveler #foodandwine #virginiawedding

Tell us three things (each) you love about your partner.

Collette: I love Scott’s endless energy, strong moral compass, and childlike wonder.

Scott: I love Collette’s endless love for family and friends, her immeasurable zest for life, and how even during the most stressful moments, we can always laugh together.

So far how has the response to your Instagram been? Have you worked with any top brands so far?

Roamaroo: Instagram has been our main creative outlet for our storytelling and it has been amazing to watch our “baby” grow from a few dozen followers to now, nearly 150,000 followers. We have worked with dozens of brands, but some of our most notable clients have been Travel Channel, Land Rover, Delta, Perrier-Jouët, Matador Network, Visit Florida, Bose, Dove, Japan Tourism, Mexico Tourism, and Aruba Tourism.

What are some of the difficulties/negatives you have faced so far on social media?

Roamaroo: We’re very lucky that we have not experienced anything truly negative on social media. We’ve had some negative people comment that we must be “trust fund babies” to afford our lifestyle, but we don’t let these unconstructive comments get to us because we know how hard we have worked and will continue to work on a daily basis.

What are some of your favourite things to do together?

Roamaroo: Our favorite things to do together usually involved active adventure – hiking, camping, and cycling are some of our favorite things. We also love sharing a bottle of wine and discussing our hopes and dreams. From the very beginning of our relationship, we have not only connected on a physical level, but we’ve challenged and stimulated one another on an intellectual level.

Which travel adventure has been the best so far? Can you briefly tell us about it?

Roamaroo: It’s so hard to name just one travel adventure, but the one that stands out the most is a South African safari in Kruger National Park. We loved the sense of childlike wonder that we experienced in the everyday while on safari. As animal lovers, we also appreciated the bounty of wildlife that we saw on our game drives and back at our lodge. There is an essence of adventure on safari that is difficult to recreate anywhere in the world.

Who are your favourite social media influencers?

Roamaroo: We are inspired by true storytellers – the adventurers, explorers, and intrepid travelers that aren’t afraid to immerse themselves in a new destination. Rachel Rudwall (@rachelroams), Andrew Muse (@Andrew__muse), Katie Quinn (@qkatie) all have an unquenchable zest for life that is truly inspiring.

Tell us one interesting thing your followers don’t know about you two

Roamaroo: We worked for free for a year, proving our value and worth to brands by offering our services gratis.

“Our favorite things to do together usually involved active adventure – hiking, camping, and cycling are some of our favorite things. We also love sharing a bottle of wine and discussing our hopes and dreams.”

Stuck on earth alone, name three things you must have with you.

Roamaroo: A great book to keep our minds stimulated, Netflix, and a pen & paper. Is that four? 🙂

What is your top goal for the year?

Roamaroo: “To inspire and help others to not only challenge the status quo of life but also pursue their goals and dreams”.

“To inspire and help others to not only challenge the status quo of life but also pursue their goals and dreams”.
