Megan is actually a professional wedding photographer. But in her final weeks of pregnancy, the photographer couldn’t shake off the urge to capture the entrance of her son.

Initially, her husband and other photographer friends had offered to do the shoot. But her creativity took a different turn!

Therefore, Megan decided that the very first breath her son took, would be best shot if she did it herself!

“I wanted one photo, and it would be from my perspective from what I’m seeing: my son’s first breaths and what he’s seeing in the world,” she explained to BuzzFeed News.

Although her friends thought she was crazy, Megan went through with her plan– the best shot being after the ‘last push’.

Surely, the photos are gorgeous. But the planning process was really quite the ‘process’.

“Firstly, she made sure her camera settings were adjusted for the lighting and sequences of the shots. She had her husband hold onto the camera for the majority of her labor, and planned for him to quickly hand it to her at the final moment”, BuzzFeed wrote.

It was a pretty laid out plan, until some unforeseen events made it complicated.

“My epidural wasn’t 100% effective. The left side of my stomach didn’t take, [and the] labor was very intense,” Megan explained. “At one point I looked at my husband and said, ‘I don’t know if I can do this.'”

However, Megan was able to convert her pain into strength and she took that photo just as planned!

“About an hour into my pushing, my doctor said ‘This should be your final push’ and I tucked my chin to my chest, I balanced my camera on my stomach, I looked in my viewfinder, and started shooting.”

“The focus went away from the pain. It’s your son, it’s your child. Seeing him…I can’t describe the feeling”

Her gorgeous son was named Easton and he definitely has the best #birthphotography so far!
