Photographer reveals ‘tricks’ influencers use to get rich in new book

Looks like a direct shot at influencers. In his new book, photographer Trey Ratcliff, is telling it all on how ‘easy’ it is to become one. The book talks about ‘some’ ways influencers fake their popularity– buying followers is one. He also spoke about some tricks they use to get companies and brands to collaborate with them.

Under the Influence–How to Fake Your Way into Getting Rich on Instagram: Influencer Fraud, Selfies, Anxiety, Ego, and Mass Delusional Behavior.

“My new book has just officially released! People are just getting into Chap 1 and seem quite hooked… so that’s great news!”, Trey says in excitement as he launches book.

The book, titled ‘How to Fake Your Way into Getting Rich on Instagram: Influencer Fraud, Selfies, Anxiety, Ego, and Mass Delusional Behavior’, is pretty much self-explanatory. It exposes all the loopholes in the system, which aims at making ‘people become more mindful in their daily activities’.

“The Instagram black market, hidden in plain sight”

Trey revealed that he originally did not want to name the book this way. But he, like any other ‘fake’ influencer, also needed a trick to attract people to it– so he changed it.

“I almost called the book ‘How to Stay Zen on Social Media,’ because that’s one of the main points! However, I decided to go with the more click-baity name”, he said in an Instagram post.

And it worked! The book went #1 on Amazon in less than 24 hours!

However, the main aim of the book is not to ‘bash’ influencers and influencer marketing. It actually seeks to solve to these problems; by shedding light on how to become a successful influencer the ‘right’ way.

Then again, Trey wants to save people from being envious of influencers because what they see as ‘gold’, might not necessarily glitter.

“So, a lot of people suffer anxiety when they see this stuff online because they feel like losers. But that is all based on a lie”

“I see quite a bit of suffering out there on social media, and that’s why I wrote this book. I hope it is a fun way to open the door, if even just a little, to have people become more mindful in their daily activities. Social Media, if used wrongly, can really add to a lot of undue suffering”, the photographer explained.

Unfortunately, there’s no sneak peek of the book because it’s on sale on Amazon 🙁

But as far as public opinions go, here’s what people think so far:

“Just grab my place in the queue! Pre-ordered my copy, can wait to read it. Thanks Trey!”, one person said.

“Finally some sense on instafame. Anxiety is a massive problem. Great title. Well done. 🤗”, another said.

“Good stuff! Although I knew most of what you wrote, it’s always good to read it written by someone else 👌 ”
